I Aspire to Be a House Cleaner

Well, I cleaned up for the cleaning crew and I'm just sitting here waiting for them to arrive. Today I'm serving them tea and special cookies from Poland during the 60-70 minutes they are here to clean (total work time: 3 people X 1 hour each = 3 hours work).

I think if it ever comes down to it I might become a housecleaner. They make nice money, they get presents throughout the year and at Christmas, one of them talks on the cell phone the moment she walks in my apartment until she leaves, they get tea and cookies every week (sometimes the cookies are homemade), I clean before they arrive, and I supply all ... supplies. Nice job if I can get it.

I think you should stop cleaning up before they arrive. JUST STOP IT!

I'd love to have someone come in and clean for me. They would do a much better job than me. But I'd have them come in during the day while I'm at work so I wouldn't have to make cookies or tea for them.

I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM CLEANING! I don't want them to think badly of me... See, this is why I'm president of the Club of the Pathetics.

We had a nice time over tea, and for the first time in 12 years, THEY BROUGHT THE COOKIES! Huh, they must read my blog... :)

Dale, I'll clean for you but I must have cookies--butter cookies or chocolate chip cookies are preferred. Thankyouverymuch. lol

I think you are nicer than some people are to their house cleaners.

But Teena, you wouldn't know if they were "misappropriating" items from your home if you weren't there. I sort of "supervise." (But after all these years I know they are not taking a thing--in fact, if they find a quarter they come running to me with it. They DESERVE cookies!)

jane, pizza's fine. Two slices extra cheese please.

Thanks Lynda. I just want them to feel we're on equal footing. Just because they clean here doesn't mean I'm "up" and they're "down." So I serve 'em cookies! :)

You're very good to your cleaners Fancy Zed!

I can never get the same cleaners for more than a few months. The turnover is quite high. It's mostly college girls who start out doing a good job and by the fourth or fifth clean, they might have not come at all.

In fact one team I had, I didn't know well, they were between the regular gal that just quit and the one that I would be getting. I found within 2 days of the cleaning that the one gallon wine bottle that I had been filling with coins since the 1980's, and was nearly filled (except for the neck) was mysteriously missing.

We, the police and I, estimated more than $300 in coins that I was saving for a kiln to make my porcelain dolls.

So, the moral of this story is, I struggle with getting good help in here that does both a good job where I can feel like my home is clean and a crew that is trustworthy.

Should you decide to change professions, please give a call. I might even be willing to pay airfare to Cul-de-sac!

Ok, maybe not, but it's a dream I can have!

Doctor Mom, that's awful about the theft and drinking!! I've had 3 teams in 10+ years and I've never lost so much as a penny or any item of value. They are almost overly honest.

Anyway, you never know, I might accept the cleaning job some day. I'm dying to see Cul-de-Sac. In the mean time, Spidey's looking for a job! :)

Spidey, keeping your hands busy with work might keep your thoughts away from cigarettes. Win-win deal for you and Doctor Mom!
