It Shouldn't Be

I'm sorry I haven't been around today. I had to ... get this ... WORK.

It just shouldn't be.

Shocking, isn't it? And it just shouldn't be. :(

Teri, is the sidebar fixed or still at the bottom?

Go to work, but then only PRETEND you're working. That'll teach 'em.
Work can seriously get in the way of blogging and surfing. What an annoyance ...

:P

it's still broken. I think it might be your long title for that nasty nail lady.

Okay, I'll go shorten it and then let me know if that works, okay? Thanks!

Teresa, 1/4" would be just fine with me. :) Right now they're about 1/8". All this typing doesn't help.

It's a concept I have difficulty grasping as well, Jen. It shouldn't be ... we're "above" that. :)

Exactly.

Vacation 365/365 would be ideal, but I haven't been able to work that out yet. But I have been able to work out something like vacation 90/365. Now THAT I like! How many clothes do I need to blog anyway?

Zed, just say pffft to work.

I had work today too but then after work I had to go get my blood drawn. I know, everyone is jealous of my exciting jetsetting lifestyle. I bet you are!

Blood drawing? Sound like fun, Mel. Oh, the envy.

Let's see, would I rather blog or blood-let? That's a tough one. Blog or blood-let ... blog or blood-let ... blog or blood-let? I think I'll go with blog.

Seriously though, I hope your test results are excellent, Mel.

Zed, as far as I can tell it's the template data that is corrupt.
The view source gives the sidebar structure as below:

#sidebar p {
color:#788c38
line-height:1.5em;
}

#sidebar img{

There is an empty line between the #sidebar p and #sidebar img elements and no space between img and the bracket in #sidebar img{

I don't think it's anything to do with the posts.

What do you think?

Sans, you're wonderful. I really appreciate this. I'll go check out my template. It's possible I messed it up when I was playing with it the other day.

Thank you tons for the effort!

Sans,
Okay, I made the changes you suggested. Did that help?

Also, what version of IE are you using? I'm running IE 7.0. It looks fine on mine, and Jen also has no problem see my sidebar. Odd.

Anyway, I hope the sidebar is showing now.

Sorry Zed, the changes are there but the sidebar is still down.
I'm using Win98 with IE5.5, although it was down at work on Win2000 with IE6.

I'll continue looking tomorrow after I get some beauty sleep.
I need it bad...

Don't worry about this. It's not a big deal. I'm leaving in a few minutes anyway.

Enjoy your sleep! Thanks again.

It's OK Zed. I want to learn CSS anyway, and what better way to dive in the deep end and drown, er.. I mean use occasions such as this to learn. I think we are making progress; something must have happened when you were in the template edit mode. There are a number of lines not de-limited by semi-colons, and I think this is throwing multiple spanners into the works. See below:

/* Sidebar Content [Zed]
----------------------------------------------- */
#sidebar ul {
margin:0 0 1.5em;
padding:0 0 1.5em;
font:95%/2.4em "Times New Roman" [sans semi missing here]
border-bottom:2px dotted #9d3150;
list-style:none;
}
#sidebar li {
margin:0;
padding:0 0 .25em 15px;
text-indent:-15px;
line-height:1.5em;
}
#sidebar p {
color:#788c38 [sans semi missing here]
line-height:1.5em;
}
#sidebar img {
max-width:220px;
width: expression(this.width > 220 ? 220: true);
}

/* Profile
----------------------------------------------- */
#profile-container {
margin:0 0 1.5em;
border-bottom:2px dotted #9d3150;
padding-bottom:1.5em;
}
.profile-datablock {
margin:.5em 0 .5em;
}
.profile-img {
display:inline;
}
.profile-img img {
float:right;
padding:2px;
border:1px solid #9d3150 [sans semi missing here]
margin:0 9px 5px 0;
}

There are three occurences of missing semi-colon above, and I have placed [sans missing semi here] markers beside. There may be more, but lets repair as we go.

Assuming of course, you're not too busy working...

This is extreme nerd fun!!

Hey Sans,
I just got home from a meeting (yes, work-related), but I'm going to go adjust things in my sidebar based on what you told me. I am also going to remove a lot of the material AFTER the links in the sidebar. We'll see if that helps.

I'm glad to provide fodder for your nerdiness!! :)

Sorry Zed, so far this has defeated me. I can make it work after a fashion, but still don't understand why.

We can talk more at the party where I'll give you a jig if you like.
