It's All about Hair Color
When I was in my early 20s, I dyed my beautiful natural red hair a dark brown--almost black. No, I don't know what I was thinking.
The day after this disaster struck, there was horror in the office, and whispering. By the afternoon, the president of the corporation, a big, burly man who rarely spoke to his underlings and resented anyone being on an elevator at the same time he was on, pressing the close-door button furiously to keep all others out, showed up at my office door and hesitated before saying:
"God gave you the skin coloring you have to match your hair coloring. He knew what he was doing--and YOU DON'T!" And off he went. Can't say he was wrong.
As of this morning my hair is now, quite accidentally, deep auburn. I mean DEEP DARK auburn. I'm normally a strawberry blond, but not now. This morning I hate L'Oreal. And I will continue to hate them maybe forever or at least until this grows out.
If you have any hair-coloring nightmare stories, list 'em here.

No. Never had that problem. I like my gray.
Um, if you wouldn't mind posting a pic....
stay away from the color, zed.
back away slowly and never look back.
I have been getting blondish highlights for the past few years. before that I would dye my hair, usually a dark blond. I always hated right after dying it, it always looked orange.
Once I used hair dye, and I had vision trouble for few days
You're gray, Dick? I keep thinking you have brown hair like Tom Delay.
And no, no picture. I can't--somewhat dangerous to my career. I'm too well known in my industry and don't want to mess things up.
Just imagine I look like my icon--except I'm not screaming, and now have DEEP AUBURN hair. Ugh.
Teri, hair coloring always looks best after 2 weeks when it's less screaming, right? I like your blond highlights BTW.
I think I need to leave my hair alone and hope for the best. Clairol, as well as L'Oreal, stinks lately.
harekrishnaji, it affected your vision? Not a good thing--and definitely not worth it! Haven't had that problem yet, but today's problem is enough to give me a headache. :)
Well, not TOTAL gray. Yet. I've got what they call "salt and pepper", but these days I seem to be getting less pepper and more salt. Well, like they say, It's better to have gray hair than no hair.
They DO say that, right??
I always thought bald men were pretty sexy.
And I don't have hair coloring stories either. I use to dye my hair red, and people would say they thought it was my natural coloring.
Although, when I tried to turn it back to its natural coloring, it turned blonde, but it wasn't a terrible thing.
I once dyed my hair ronald mcdonald red. I have since learned that since I already have red hair I cannot do anything that isn't labeled ash. Ash tends to look like what it sounds, so, I don't dye my hair much anymore. BTW my date was horrified, he wouldn't look at me the whole night (there was a big college dance) my roomates and I all thought it was hilarious. Just think, if I hadn't dyed my hair I might have ended up with that jerk and I wouldn't have gotten my wonderful sushiboy.
I love a bastard CEO who ignores all but hair/skin coloring.
I'm staying with my black-to-graying tresses.
I also think balding men are sexy, Lynda. So cute! Red hair is very hard to carry if you're not a natural redhead, so if others though you were a natural, you were really accomplishing something!
Superwoman, sounds like you made a good move, 'cause you've got a great guy now in Sushiboy.
Beth, that guy was exactly like that. He was nice to me only because he loved red hair. When I colored it, he ignored me. Actually he hated underlings. Once when a friend was getting on an elevator, he rushed to hit the "close" button so she couldn't get on. What a guy! :) Salt and pepper is good!
