Seeking a Remedy ...

I've been super-stressed. And so, of course, I now have a heavy-duty cold. Ker-choooooooo!

Sorry. I'll be back soon. I hope you are all well!

Anyone have any good cold remedies? List 'em please! Thank you!

I was going to mention Zicam also. Best thing I have found over the counter, well, next to Jack Daniels...

Skylers dad is correct. The best thing is to drink heavily.

Zicam is excellent, also chicken soup. It really does work for easing the symptoms

Get under some thick blankets and sweat it out.
Chicken soup is good too.

Thanks for the advice I've received so far. So if I have this straight, I should:

Go to bed under heavy blankets; sweat; heavily drink both Jack Daniels and Ocean Spray white grapefruit juice; and, at the same time, I should take Zicam and have a bowl of chicken soup.

Got it. Thank you all! (I feel awful. I hope this all helps.)

Teri, I haven't either. This is just stress-related. I've been working 14-hour days. Thanks anyway, though.

Feel better, Zed. Try orange juice or tea with lemon. That always works for me.

Chelene, I just this second had a glass of orange juice. It seems to have helped a bit with the gunk, if you know what I mean. Still feel rotten. Thanks, though!

Jen, yes, I'm sure the clamato juice smoothies should do it. Puke ... I'm sorry, I mean yum. :)

Lots and lots of water. All that exercise you will get hauling your butt out of bed to go to the bathroom will jumpstart your immune system.

I always drink more coke. Cause I'm tired and can't stop. That probably prolongs the healing process though.

Zed, get a hot toddy into you

Mix up boiling water, a spirit of your choice(rum, scotch, cognac) a table spoon of brown sugar, juice of half a lemon. Stir and slurp. It tidies up those sinuses and makes you very happy and sleepy just before bed.

Barbara, thanks. I'm trying to drink water and lemon tea, and tonight I'm having chicken broth with crackers. I'd better lose 10 lbs from this! I have 15-year-old cognac in the house--maybe I'll have some of that to make everything around me look "happy."

sushiboy, you KNOW I love Coca-Cola! Maybe I'll drink a bottle and see if it helps. Probably not, but what a way to go.

GT, I'm not really a drinker, so I'm glad you included the receipe. I have an old cognac bottle that would work, and I bet regular sugar will work just as well since I don't have brown sugar.
This could turn out to be a very cool night at home with my cold, my cats, and some cognac toddy. Cheers!

I've always had luck with Alka-Seltzer cold medicine. If you can't handle the taste, squeeze in some fresh lemon or lime. Or vodka.

Dale, the check's in the mail, because I trust you completely. However, don't try to pull a fast one, because I have a cousin Rocky who's an excellent shot ... I meant to say chef! Honest!

Beth, I didn't know they still made that! I remember that was pretty good too! Thanks! I'm currently Zicam-ing it, which hasn't helped at all. I started to take it too late.

Airborne ... Thanks for the good word though. Run! Run!

Yesterday, on a scale of 1 to 100, with one being "great" and 100 being "just awful," I was 100.

Today I'm a 98. Not lookin' good. I think I'll go have cognac with lemon now and we'll see how that goes. Thanks again for your support everyone!

I tend to seek solace in chocolate during immune system low points.
Do you have Caramac over there?

Figures Teri would brag about how well she's been, in your time of distress. Um, if I were you, I would seriously consider erasing her from your blogroll. Maybe it's all that negative energy that's making you ill. Skyler's dad and I talked it over and we both agreed. Although he said if I mentioned it he'd deny everything...

Teri's always been a bragger, Dick. Brag, brag, brag, brag. Mom would always smack her around a bit just to get her to shut up. And I would always laugh. :)

It could be Teri's negative energy, or it could be the 12- to 14-hour days I've been putting in to finish all this dang work. Anyway, I'll go straighten Teri out, though I must admit, I've been trying to do that to no avail for years!

I've come down with something too. :( I think its because the Mets found some way to not win the division after they were up by ten games. *sigh*
