Thursday-Saturday Thirteen

13 random facts:

1. I stopped using ATMs about 5 years ago. I don't like the lines or the little rooms my bank puts customers in to withdraw their money.

2. I hate cooking and I hate eating natural foods such as tomatos, squash, eggplant, zucchini, and green things. I ate asparagus for the first time two weeks ago and broccoli for the first time as a side dish about 2-3 months ago. Surprisingly they were good. I don't even like to be in the kitchen.

3. I have extremely funny or amusing dreams almost every night and I often wake up smiling. How annoying is that, huh?

4. I'm usually about 10-15 minutes late, but I'm working on being more prompt. Really I am. I can only TRY. :)

5. I've been to 38 states in America: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, California, Washington, Oregon, Nebraska, Alaska, Utah, Virginia and most provinces of Canada.

6. I'm 5 foot 2 and 3/4.

7. I love the smell of vanilla anything: potpourri, candles, sachets, soap, etc.

8. I don't like the taste of alcohol and hence do not drink. I do however drink root beer, Coca-Cola, and grape or orange juice.

9. I have been known to work 16-hour days for 4-5 days per week, but a halt was put to that about 5 years ago.

10. I have been going to physical therapy for about a month now to work on injuries to both of my legs. It's going great, I love the therapist's kindness, and I'm already walking so much better. I have to be more disciplined about doing the exercises on a regular basis.

11. I make a mean Zed's kitchen-sink salad. It has raisins, cranraisins, macadamia nuts, parmesan cheese, bacon, chicken bits, and ranch dressing. Absolutely delicious!

12. After flying over 250 times, I'm now terrified of flying and will try to avoid it at all costs. The planes I've been in have had far too many close calls, including a close encounter with the SST over Manhattan and a landing at a tiny little airport in Switzerland in the Alps in the middle of the night in total and complete fog. Horrifying!

13. I loathe horror movies but love musicals. I live in an area where Broadway performers perform large parts of their shows at local (large) malls. So I can get to see and hear the songs from many different Broadway shows FOR ABSOLUTELY FREE from about 10 ft. away from the performers (front row seats because I get there hours early).

There's other stuff, but the 13 count is up!

Teri, I use my supermarket card as a check-cashing card. Whatever I buy, I get $100 OVER back in cash. Works for me! Otherwise I use my credit/debit wherever I go.

Great list! I love the smell of vanilla too. I've got vanilla scented Glade plug ins on the go now as well as vanilla scented liquid hand soap in the bathroom.

I'm not a big fan of veggies :(

Teena, I KNEW I liked you!
Yum vanilla. I've got the Glade stuff as well. Even my carpet freshener is vanilla. If I had my way, Frankie & Johnny would smell like vanilla (but they run away haha). Have you smelled Lancome's Hypnotic?? Vanilla's the number 1 ingredient and the scent is outrageous and wonderful.

Teri, if you make the salad, it's crucial you use macadamia nuts. Don't switch to, say, walnuts, or pinioli nuts--gotta be macadamias.
Let me know what you think once you've had it.

cool list. I see you have been to my not-so-wonderful state. Lucky you.

Nobody, have you ever identified which is your state? I remember the big star representing where you live, but it covered about 13 states.
I'll be honest, I always thought I would hate the Midwest, but I didn't. It thought it was pretty cool and the people were great. Of course I was on cold medicine at the time, so my opinion might be skewed. lol

So do you live in Iowa, Indiana, Kansas--where??? Spill the beans nobody.

Thanks Zed. Wouldn't dream of boring you all to death. lol

I tried the salad, but the bacon was too soft. Maybe I'll cook it first next time.

As for #3 - try an episode of Night Gallery b-4 bedtime.
Clear that right up.

I have heard that people who fly a lot can develop a fear of flying.

I loved your list.

Mixednut, yes, cooking the bacon would improve the salad considerably. :) (Or buy Hormel's pre-cooked bacon.)

I want to see your list!

Hmmm picky picky but #2 is contradicted by #11 isn't it? LOL
I used to dream a lot and remember them (often weird dreams) but now I don't seem to remember my dreams anymore.

I used always be early or on time but since being with my hubby we tend to always be a little late for things too.

#5 I counted just to make sure you weren't including "most provinces of Canada" as number 38. :) We will not be assimilated. LOL

My hubby is 5'3 3/4" the two of you would get along great and I could reach all the high stuff on the shelfs for both of you. :)

I hope your legs continue to get better.

13 is cool, that must be great to have front row seats for "off" broadway performances. :)

Nope, no contradiction. I will eat salad, but I don't like most veggies (and I DO like fruit, so there's lots of that in the salad).

Vegetables I WON'T eat:
cabbage, zucchini, eggplant, squash, artichokes, asparagus (had first time a few weeks ago), brussel sprouts (pa-tooie!), cauliflower, chickpeas, kale, leek, onion, tomato (raw), peppers, celery, chard, cucumber, fennel, kohlrabi, parsley, rhubarb, turnip, blah, blah, blah.

Teresa, my dad was a veggie hater and so my mother cooked only stuff HE liked--meaning my sister and I didn't get many veggies.
I can't blame anyone. My mother didn't realize just how important green vegetables are! I hope I can make up for some lost time in the next 30-40 years or so by eating some good green things.
