IKEA Envy

I hate when people envy what I do. I just don't like to cause that sort of raw emotion in anyone. But today?? So be it. Because I am heading to IKEA to check out all of the low-priced yet cool-looking garbage--chochkas--they've got on sale. I'm going, you're not.

I KNOW you wish you were me
, but that's just not possible.

Try to muddle your way through your boring existence today while I'm at one of the coolest stores in the world. I'll bring you all a Swedish meatball from their restaurant, if you'd like.

I just bet they don't have IKEA in Rhode Island.

Good evening, and Pfft to you all.

I spent 5 hours walking in huge circles in a giganto warehouse of monumental proportions filled with ridiculously cheap to mid-priced furniture, chochkas, and kitchen items, and I came home with, get this, 8 white teacups and 8 white saucers with a big blue dot where the teacup hits the saucer. $7.99 total. Can't beat it.

Five long, arduous, horrendous hours of walking around, and around, and around, and around, and around, and around.

I did have the mac & cheese/soda lunch for 99 cents, but I missed out on the cinnamon buns because I didn't check the blog just before I left. So I can't give any of you munchables, but how about a white cup each, or a white saucer each?

That was my Ikea day. Over and out. Oh, and by the way: Pfft.

Oh and Jen, don't short-change Rhode Island. You know darn well that it takes 5 minutes to cross the state.

I'm glad you're going to Ikea Fancy Zed. I am not jealous... I am happy for you.

I do not own anything from Ikea. I went when their store opened near Cul-de-Sac... It was like a hamster-trail. I freaked out and never went back again.

Please find your way out of the hamster trail and come back!

I've have never been to an Ikea.

I'm going to see if they are online so I can check it out.

I don't even know WHAT an Ikea is! But, you made me envious, so I just gotta check it out!

We don't go to the IKEA near us because they have it set up so that you literally have to weave back and forth across the entire store and see every item to reach the exit.

Hey, hi shelli, glad you made it here. One must wear heavy-duty sneakers when one goes to IKEA. Its worse than a hike up Mount McKinley. They were trying to kill me today, I tell you. Kill me! :)

javajabber--Thanks for stopping by! Don't be envious! It's an ugly emotion. :) IKEA's a wonderful place with great home design, but the cost of everything is extremely low. It's just that they torture their customers by making them walk in large circles and maze-like patterns for hours! My feet! If I can add a picture to the top page of this post to show the ridiculous patterns they use in their stores, I will. Stop back whenever you can, you're most welcome here.

Omni, that's exactly right. The whole place is line a gigantic snake, curing THIS way, then THAT way. I may vomit just thinking of it again. :)

I think the store designers are sadists. With whips.

Jen, I didn't see the jerker, but I saw 12,000 tables, lamps, glasses, dishes, kitchen utensils (I don't know how to use most of them--a lot looked like items of torture), rugs, curtains, etc., etc. It's hard to believe I only came away with little white teacups. How pathetic is THAT?

And no, I didn't see OR smell the cinnamon buns. To be honest, I don't think they had them (or they had them at breakfast and I got there too late). Boo-hoo!! Waaaa!

I pick them up for you next time--in 2008 when I get back there.

BTW, I KNEW RI didn't have an IKEA. Sad. Very sad.

Pfft everyone.
i went to ikea last week and bought a four-drawer bedroom dresser in pine about 4.5 feet tall for $125.
it took about 2 hours to put together, but that's not my problem. hubby can be quite useful when furniture needs construction. i'm renewing his contract for one more year. lol
ikeas got great deals if you can handle the ridiculous store layout.
